CMSP01 Missions from the Cape (South Africa) Known as the "white man's graveyard" the African continent claimed more mission lives than any other on earth, yet the fruits of outreach in the name of Jesus Christ were more abundant here than any other place in the world. This program follows the journey of the Gospel from the former Cape Colony to the northeastern borders, with a special emphasis on biographies of Robert and Mary Moffat, David Livingstone and others. Special lectures on the "Culture Clashes and Christianity" are included. The programs include safari experiences, outreaches in "townships" and stunning views of the African landscape. Some hiking may be included. (Prerequisite: none). CMSP02 Contemporary Issues in Missions (Africa or Central America) Developed by various mission departments in cooperation with CTSP, this course has been used in a variety of countries in Africa and Central America. The course is an exploration into mission activity, highlighting both success and failure of the spread of the Gospel. The program is tailored to the country environment. Samples of the previous programs may be requested. (Prerequisite: none). African Mission Seminars: These journeys into what used to be called the "Dark Continent" are designed to follow the footsteps of the Mission Pioneers. Though history is part of the program, this is not simply a history lesson. Issues of mission victories and historic blunders will be examined. Dealing with the issues of sharing our faith versus spreading our culture, we look at all of our assumptions and attitudes about the Great Commission. |
